Starliner was a special hardtop version of the ‘60 Galaxie, something similar to what they did later for the ‘63 Galaxie fastback. This (‘59) was the first year of the Galaxie model name, which debuted as a trim level for the Fairlane. Which then became a separate model entirely, about the same time that “Galaxie” quit being the model name for *all* fullsize Fords, just most of them. Sunliner and Skyliner were special roof versions on the ‘59 (vert, removable hardtop), but no Starliner (permanent roof that looks like the removable hardtop) yet. Because reasons.
In the picture is very possibly a Galaxie, but may be *only* a Fairlane.

Either a Galaxie or Fairlane depending on equipment and badging, which is not to be confused with the midsize car called a Fairlane made a few years after this, when Galaxie became the almost-universal name for a fullsize and Fairlane was dropped from that line, because Ford naming conventions at the time were bananas.

On review, the lens at least is different. Which sounds exactly like Ford: make things the same across brands for one model year for no reason, while using different parts.
OTOH, my Galaxie and Ranchero use the same signal unit up front.

Nearly every fullsize car that Ford sold ‘62-’64 was a Galaxie, Galaxie 500, or Galaxie 500XL, except for a few that were sold as a “Ford 300" for use by total paupers and liveries. Nonetheless, you could order a 300 with a V8 and the full range of Galaxie options. The ‘62 Fairlane was a mid-size developed from the Falcon to fill a gap that Ford had developed between very small (Falcon) and TEH HUEG (the Galaxie/etc.)
Something similar and almost as confusing happened with Mopar fullsize lines at the time, except that the Dart went from a fullsize to a midsize that was a cut-down fullsize, and then went compact (!) all in the space of like three years.

Small wonder a lot of people, even those who are into these years, give up and say “full size Ford”/etc., or refer to platforms, right?
